Home away from home!

Shackleton was one of the great Heroic Age explorers, and must have given great attention to small details. His hut here at Cape Royds on Ross Island, is superbly well situated. The view is to the north west across McMurdo Sound to the distant mountains, there is a lake and a penguin colony just in front, supplying food and water, and the hut is in a sheltered hollow, where somehow, the snow doesn't accumulate in drifts. Nikon D300, 16-85mm lens, processed in DxO Optics and tinted sepia in FilmPack 3.
